Federighi quoted, ‘a whopping 81% of all iOS devices globally are powered by the latest iOS firmware version, i.e. iOS 11’. Alongside, he also throws a jab straight in the face of Android by quoting that a meagre 6% of the global Android device pool operates on the Google’s latest Android firmware, i.e. Oreo (8.x).

Though the figures were found to be slightly over-exaggerated after taking a look at the Stats Dashboard of Google, only 5.7% (4.9% operating on Android 8.0 while the remaining 0.8% operates on Android 8.1) of all active Android devices are actually powered by Android Oreo.

On the other hand, the App Store dashboard of Apple unveils that iOS 11 is powering 76% (as was recorded on 22nd April) of all active iOS device pool which is now hiked to 81%.

1. Mac upgrades

On the contrary of what was speculated about the MacOS and iOS, that they were destined to be merged in the upcoming upgrades, Federighi (at WWDC18) made it absolutely clear that it isn’t the case for the time being. Instead, what is focused on are bringing the Stocks, Home, News and Voice Memo app to the Mac computers. Moreover, the last year’s completely refurnished iPhone’s App Store is coming to Macs. Furthermore, Microsoft Office 365 will also be available on Mac with the addition of App Store.

  • Gone are the days of limiting video calls to individuals, now you can make group calls over Facetime (32 people at max in a single call).

For vehicles on the other hand, the users will be capable of adding third-party navigation apps including Google News with the touchscreen software in cars by Apple’s operating system.
